Rocket Launch (Atari 8-bit Cassette 50 Game 37)

What is going on here? There’s some non-moving blobs. There are some flying triangles. There is my (non flying) triangle, which can be extended to two triangles. Now, the instructions clearly say that the flying triangles are ships and I must catch as many as I can. Are we on the sea? What happens to the ships I capture? Where are the rockets form the game’s title? I’ve been deceived again by Cassette 50. I’m always letting cassette 50 deceive me. When will I learn? (I’ll never learn).

This game is actually pretty good as far as Cassette 50 goes. And serves as a nice history lesson about countries that were once part of the USSR. I am rubbish at strategy games though, as the video attests:

I don’t like the look of you. And because I don’t like the look of you I’m going to fire rockets at your plane until it be blown out of the sky. And because you’re a fool you will keep flying over and over my head until I do hit you with a rocket.

What’s that? You’re flicking the Vs at me from the cockpit? Why? Because my rockets are so slow they’ll never hit you in a million years?

Balls.

I have a big ball and I am going to throw it right in your stupid tank face. Yeah! Take that! Although…it’s not as easy as it looks. Dammit. Guess you and your stupid tank are safe from having my big balls in your face. Today at least.
